![]() Automatic Transmission Fluid is a lightweight lubricant and in this case, made the trigger motion acceptable. I put a couple drops of a high grade lubricant on the firing pin and all the parts listed above. Recoil spring assembly.Īll of that helped but a change in slide lubricant helped the most. ![]() Used some 3,000 grit wet/dry sandpaper to lightly polish the "tube" (slot?) the striker trigger rides in, the rubbing areas of the new Apex Heavy Duty Striker firing pin, striker spring stop pin, return spring, and striker spring exterior surfaces. Nope, then used some spray cleaner (similar to Brake Cleaner from NAPA) to remove all the wheel bearing grease and then spray it with some Outer's Gun Oil. As a test, I packed the frame with wheel bearing grease to see if that extra lubrication would remove grittiness. The only way I could figure out how to polish items in the frame is to take out That Pin so I was NOT going to take it apart. Looked up on YouTube for solutions and pretty much all of them recommended polishing many pieces. Maybe later units are better, but it seems random whether or not you get a "good one" or a "bad one"Ĥ. The LGS had more 509's in stock and they all felt this bad. That gentleman indicated that both of these "occurrences" were actually acceptable.ģ. ![]() Absolutely no change or improvement since October.Īfter getting the 509 back, I called and talked to Customer Service. Trigger mechanism still feels like it has beach sand in it. The Slide is a noticeably darker color than the new frame.Ģ. They took out the Apex trigger, told the LGS that their gunsmith "had broken the frame putting it in" so they LGS had to purchase another frame.ġ. He had to punch out "that pin" holding in the trigger mechanism, very difficult to do without the Apex Jig and the right punches. The LGS "gunsmith" said that was the best he could do. Put in an Apex trigger but that made is less gritty (fine beach sand, not backyard dirt). I've had my 509T for about a year now and went through lots of "fixes" for my gritty trigger.
